Dr. Tyler Zimmerman
Dr. Tyler Zimmerman is a scientist and musician, with an MA degree in Organ Historical Performance from Claremont Graduate University (CGU) and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
His first organ teacher at Northwestern University was Margaret Kemper, who was a previous National President of the AGO. He continued organ studies with the composer Wayne Wold (U.S. President’s organist at Camp David), and subsequently with Dr. Carey Robertson at CGU.
He has held the organist position at Trinity United Methodist (Pomona, CA) and Chino United Methodist (Chino, CA) and has substituted throughout Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.
His master’s thesis explores the performance practices in the organ works of four early Belgian composers including Gerard Scronx, Lambert Chaumont, Thomas Babou, and Hubert Renotte.
His day job includes on-the-ground support of the Major Constituent Analyzer (MCA), which is equipment used on the International Space Station (ISS).
